Going to night markets, more affectionately known as pasar malams, is a beloved part of Singaporean culture. As a kid, I remember being so excited whenever a new pasar malam popped up in my neighbourhood, and pestering my parents to take me there.
Now as an adult, night markets are still a common sight, but have evolved beyond just a place to get tutu kueh, fried tapioca cakes and Ramly Burgers. Many now offer “hipster” food options, seating areas and other activities. Whether you prefer the smaller “old school” kind of pasar malam or the bigger modern food fairs and bazaars, there are plenty to visit in the month of October. Keep a lookout below for any that are near you!
1. Punggol Central Pasar Malam (12 Sep – 11 Oct)

The Punggol Central Pasar Malam has been going on for a few weeks, and seems to be quite popular on social media. With close to 40 food stalls, claw machines, carnival games, and Pokémon cards, you will find more than your “standard” pasar malam goodies.
Expect to fill your tummies with viral mochi, cups of T-Rex Milo Dinosaur, a variety of corn dogs, chunky marshmallow ice cream, Striploin Katok, and more. This buzzy pasar malam experience will only be running till 11 Oct, so make sure to head down soon if you don’t want to miss it!

Time to show some love for Yishun! Chong Pang City will be the location of an upcoming pasar malam, from 11 – 31 Oct, which the organisers have teased to have around 15 F&B stalls. If you are still hungry after your visit, you can also head to the nearby Chong Pang Market & Food Centre.
Our team visited the hawker centre a few months ago and found some treasures among the 50+ stalls. It is definitely worth visiting, especially considering that this old-school food centre will soon be replaced due to development projects in the coming years. Read our list of recommendations here.

12. Blk 8 Eunos Crescent Market & Hawker Centre (25 Oct – 9 Nov)

The last pasar malam that starts in October will be at Blk 8 Eunos Crescent Market & Hawker Centre. This will likely be a smaller scale fair for residents living in the area, and will not feature any F&B stalls.
That is quite appropriate for this area, since it is already packed with multiple hawker centres and food choices. Eunos folks can look forward to some retail items being sold here at this pasar malam from 25 Oct – 9 Nov.
